About Cornerstone

“Our mission is to be a community of faith which seeks to grow in the knowledge, love and service of Jesus Christ and to actively draw others into faith in Him in wholeness of body, mind and spirit.”

Who are we?

Cornerstone Christian Church was one of the first churches to be established in the Gungahlin region. In 2013 we celebrated our 20th birthday. Cornerstone Christian Church is so named to reflect that Jesus Christ is the cornerstone or foundation of all that we are and do. We are a non-denominational church family in Gungahlin that recognises the Bible as God’s authoritative message to all humanity. We seek to share the message of Jesus through love, relationship and the ministry of the Holy Spirit; reaching into our community and partnering with others to see God’s Kingdom advanced. In making a difference we value relationship, family, partnership, compassion, spiritual development.

What do we look like?

We are a vibrant community of faith from a range of denominational backgrounds who love and support each other and are committed to making a difference in this broken world. We strive to please God in all we do, seek to share the love of Jesus with those around us, wherever that might be, and seek to empower each person to be all that God has created them to be. We are passionate about working together in partnership with the wider church in Canberra to see God’s purposes advanced here in Gungahlin, Canberra and beyond.

We are a Bible-based church that is multi-generational. We cater for all age groups from babies through to seniors. We meet collectively every Sunday afternoon and have different types of small groups that meet throughout the week. Cornerstone runs many activities to provide opportunities to share the love of Jesus. These include a Sunday afternoon church meeting, children’s church, home groups and Bible study groups, youth groups of different ages, coffee groups and men’s groups.

Our church is affiliated with the Crosslink Christian Network, a network of local churches and ministries across Australia.

Church Membership

Church attendees are encouraged to join the church as members. Membership forms need to be completed and forwarded to the Eldership for their consideration. A person is qualified to be a member if they meet the criteria detailed in the Cornerstone Christian Church Constitution. While some Cornerstone attendees choose not to be members they are still encouraged to serve in the church and are not excluded from Annual General Meetings.

Please ask one of the elders if you would like to be a member. We are a community who, above all, love Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
